Great Local Schools in Bundaberg

As a former teacher I’m passionate about ensuring we continue to have a world-class Queensland education system.

I’m proud to say we are delivering on that.

We have some fantastic schools across the Bundaberg region, and it is my priority to continue to deliver the very best facilities so students, teachers and the wider school community can be proud of their school.

Since 2022, the Palaszczuk Government has invested more than $8 million in upgrading and refurbishing classrooms, delivering air-conditioning and installing new security fencing across Bundaberg state schools.

This is my track record so far delivering for Bundaberg schools:

  • Kepnock State High School will receive $22 million to deliver a new industrial design and technologies facility that will provide students with a world-class learning environment.
  • In 2023, more than $2million in contracts were awarded across eight Bundaberg state schools to refurbish learning spaces and toilet amenities, ensuring students have access to safe and modern classrooms and facilities.
  • Delivering the $12 million three-storey learning centre at Bundaberg State High School which was opened in 2022. It includes a new library and science classrooms, a renewed administration space for 30 teacher aides, five refurbished general learning areas, upgrades to the sports courts, and new bathrooms.
  • Construction is nearing completion on the new $1 million security fencing at Bundaberg Central State School to help protect the safety of students and staff on school grounds. This follows the construction of new security fencing at Bundaberg South State School which was completed in 2022.
  • Bundaberg North High School has become one of the 50 schools across Queensland participating in the GPs in Schools Pilot Program, providing students with direct access to frontline health and wellbeing professionals.
  • $3 million awarded to Bundaberg West State School, Kepnock State High School and Norville State School to build new classrooms, STEM learning spaces and refurbishment of existing library and learning spaces.

Delivering Air conditioning in every school

The Palaszczuk Government has delivered on its promise to air-condition every classroom in every state school in Queensland.

Through Our Cooler Cleaner Schools Program, air-conditioning was installed in every classroom, library and staff room in every Queensland state school ahead of term 2, 2022.

This is a huge achievement and it ensures students and teachers are kept comfortable during the warmer months to support their learning.
